Sophisticated Stitches & SSNAP
Who Are SSNAP?
SSNAP (Supporting Sick Newborns & their Parents) is a charity based at Oxfords John Radcliffe Hospital.
What do they do?
In the UK, 1 in 10 babies need specialist care at birth. SSNAP Supports sick & premature babies and their families in the Newborn Care Unit at The John Radcliffe Hospital.
Instead of getting to know your baby as a family in the first very important days of their lives, your thrown into a world of medication, wires, incubators & medical tests.
While your baby has specialist treatment & care at The John Radcliffe, they provide emotional, medical, financial & informational support to help you through the trauma & major changes in your family.
They champion the right of all sick & premature babies treated in Oxford receive the best care. They do this by supporting families, purchasing life saving equipment & enabling life changing research and training.
How am I helping?
From a young age, my nan taught me how to knit. I loved the finished results of what I had made and knitting itself was good for my mental health, but I had no purpose to knit until I happen to come across a post by SSNAP asking for blankets, cardigans, booties, hats etc for their baby unit.
So from there I started knitting blankets, Cardigans, booties, Hats & baby sets so I can take them up to The John Radcliffe for them to use in the unit. But I realised I could knit teddies/toys and they looked amazing when they were completed, so I also sell toys, blankets etc, with help from some amazing clients and my nan, and any funds raised all go to SSNAP to continue the amazing work they do.

made and items that have been donated..
